In partnership with World Vision, in 2011 Alison started the “Image and Identity” Arts Advocacy project to support youth in advocating for their human rights. Al Walajeh was one of four villages in the Palestinian territories where the “Image and Identity” project was carried out with local community organizations.
During three months of bi-weekly workshops, young people worked to creatively articulate place, identity and space using photography. Following a selection process, 60 images were selected to exhibit publicly at Dar Kalima Arts College in Bethlehem. Photographs and video were also used as international advocacy materials for reports about child rights violations that were received by Obama’s administration among other international powerholders.
